Professional Development

PD that gets teachers ready to run the lab, not just talk about it.

Our professional development is hands-on because our curriculum is. Teachers do the investigations themselves, so they walk into class already knowing how each lesson feels.

Support, not just materials

What our PD actually looks like

Launch workshop

Teachers run 2–3 investigations start to finish, then debrief the instructional moves.

Implementation check-ins

Short virtual sessions during your first units, troubleshooting in real time.

Train-the-trainer

We build capacity inside your district so support continues after we leave.

What educators gain

What your team walks out with

  • The 5E lesson flow, walked through on your actual units
  • Hands-on run of one or two labs, live
  • The why behind each phase, so it holds when kids ask curveball questions
  • Ready-to-use plans, scripts, and answer keys
  • The exact background you need to sound informed, not scripted

"The whole art of teaching is only the art of awakening the natural curiosity of young minds for the purpose of satisfying it afterwards."

FAQ

Professional development questions, answered

What does Lab Rascals professional development include?

Every PD plan is built around three pieces: a hands-on launch workshop, short virtual implementation check-ins during your first units, and an optional train-the-trainer track that builds lasting capacity inside your district.

Do teachers need a science background to participate?

No. Teachers run the investigations themselves during PD and get the exact background knowledge they need for each unit, so they can teach with confidence even if science is not their specialty.

Is PD tied to the Lab Rascals curriculum?

PD is unit-specific and walks teachers through the 5E lesson flow on the actual units they will teach. It is available bundled with a curriculum license or purchased separately.

Is PD offered in person or virtually?

Launch workshops are hands-on, and implementation check-ins happen virtually. We will recommend the right mix for your schools during your discovery call.

Who should attend?

Classroom teachers who will run the lessons, plus instructional coaches, STEM leads, and program staff who support them. Train-the-trainer is designed for district coaches and leaders.

What do teachers walk away with?

Ready-to-use lesson plans, scripts, and answer keys, a live run of one or two labs, and a clear understanding of why each phase of the lesson works, so it holds up when students ask curveball questions.
